Pergamos. Once the capital city of Asia Minor and home to the temples of the Roman gods. To live there as a follower of Christ meant living with the constant threat of death. Jesus applauded their witness but hated the things they were allowing to co-exist within the church body. Maybe the continual danger they lived in made them willing to accept behaviors and ideals that opposed what they knew to be the truth? Some have called them "The Compromised Church." I wonder if today's church can be labeled the same? So what does it truly mean to be a witness? How can we know for sure that we are the children of our Father God? What is the "doctrine of Balaam" that Christ mentioned? What is the most attacked scripture in the Bible? What is the lowest level of faith acceptable to Christ? I wanna know.
